CrossFit Chicago is pleased to announce our newest member of the month – Kate!

Not only does KateM run her own apparel line, she’s also our October Member of the Month! She’s a big part of our community and has helped out at our events and represented us at competitions at other affiliates. A RudyFit member, KateM has a strong competitive drive and more importantly one of the nicest people at our affiliate. As one of our original Women’s Only Groupon members, she’s come a long way and setting goals has played a large part. Watch the video to learn more about her goals, her CrossFit story, and how CrossFit connects KateM with her husband, GeoffM. If you see KateM, please give her a big smile and congratulate her for being our newest Member of the Month! Don’t forget to see the extended footage at the end of the video too!

    Congrats, Kate!

  2. Matsumoto says:

Yay Kate congrats, very well deserved. Did the ‘Thanksgiving Special’ this morning with the 2 person Lane Tech team. I lost count, but Brett kept me honest, did 9 rounds…I was almost “that guy”. Burpees were horrible and lunges lit my thighs on fire. Did mb situps at 14#. Now I can go pig out and not feel too bad about it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  3. Bryce says:

Congrats Kate!! Very well deserved. I think kate has already set about 10 new pr’s since jonny did this video too.

Also, I’ll be at the gym until 11:30 today if any of you are looking to get something in before the feast.

  4. Jean says:

Congratulations, Kate. I agree that you are one of the nicest people in the box, and I am astounded at your strength and skill. You set a great example for setting and achieving goals. We are so lucky to have you around.

Way behind inthe strength program this week, so did my BP/pull-ups. 6 on the AMRAP @ 90 percent. Felt pretty good throughout.
Then did 5 rounds of 5 pull-ups, 5 HSPU, 5 TTB, 5 HSPU. 8 minutes and change (did the other TTB workout yesterday), followed by the prescribed accessory work.

    Happy thanksgiving, everyone.

  5. Brett L says:

Two-person 8am class means quality time with Jonny and Carolyn. Great warm-up knocked out some of the soreness from earlier this week.

Metcon: Team Lane Tech with Christina!
    10 rounds & 6 lunges

Like Christina I felt the lunges were deceptively tough. Legs still feeling the BS AMRAP from Monday.

    Congrats Kate.
    Happy Thanksgiving all.

Wow I got destroyed on this one. The lateral burpee box jump overs ate me alive and ended up being much rougher than I thought. Hoped for 5 mins going into it but not so much. One to redo soon and maybe in a group setting

  7. FSL says:

Did this at my parent’s house, so no medball. Did regular sit ups:
8 rounds plus 1 sit up.

Diffult/not too great, but I was having fun in Tokyo all last week, so I’ll consider it an accomplishment that I even worked out.

  8. AndyS says:

Went home to my first Crossfit gym in the suburbs, Crossfit Invalesco, for their Turkey Day Burner.

    7 rounds for time
    12 thrusters (75# RX’d)
    9 TTB
    200m run with 20# medball

25:35 and it every minute of it sucked, but so happy I did it. :)

25m back rack walk with 225lbs

First, Congratulations Kate! Can’t say that I’m surprised seeing as how far you’ve come with CrossFit. Glad I was one of the people who witnessed your first muscle up. Huge accomplishment for any of us. Also, I wondered if Meg Raz was going to be reigning member of the month into the new year. She almost pulled it off. Sorry Meg.

Second, thanks to all who mustered up the energy to come to CFC today, it was fun times. I realized that last year on Thanksgiving was my first class at CFC (I didn’t join technically right away, I had to wrap up my membership at my previous box). Thanks to Jonny for coaching on Thanksgiving these last 2 years!

  12. Radin says:

    Congrats Kate!

    5k Row: 20:24

Never tried this distance before. It actually wasn’t as bad as I imagined.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

  13. Carolyn says:

Congrats Kate! Very well deserved, you have become one of the strongest female athletes at CFC in such a short period of time. Keep up the great work.

  14. GeoffM says:

Congrats Kate… Thanks for getting me to join as well :)

Looks like the video was shot within a week after your wisdom teeth were removed – I like how I wasn’t allowed to take a picture of your face but you let JVu do a 5 min video. I will save this for the archives.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

  15. John G says:

I over ate . Way too much

  16. JoeP says:

So full, so very full. Pretty gluten free though, except the beer… and the pie….

  17. John G says:

I killed the stuffing. Like really bad. Half of it. Washed it down with rutabagas and gravy. Topped it off with 4 chocolate chip cookies.

    I feel like crap.

    Noon tomorrow. Definitely

  18. EmilyG says:

    Nice, congrats Kate!

  19. Kitty says:

Congrats Kate! So funny about you and your husband.

Big thanks to all the CFC folks who support one other day in and day out! You are the best! Gobble, gobble!

  20. Megan says:

    Yesssss Kate!

  24. The Ambassador says:

Congrats Kate! So well deserved. You have made such incredible progress since the early summer…wow! You’ve set your goals and you are well on your way to achieving them. It’s been amazing to watch you since the beginning of RudyFit and I feel lucky to know you! Keep it up, badass!!!

  25. KateM says:

Thanks everybody! I’ve had the best time getting to know everyone and crossfit and am honored to be a member of the month.

  27. Brett Raz says:

    Nice work Kate!

My sixth sense is telling me today is a long/chipper type workout. Anybody know?

  28. leslie says:
