Back on the wagon for me tomorrow. Sommer and I are going to extend our challenge another 30 days or so. The Rasmussen family’s plagued with illness this time, so hopefully I can get into workout a bit more and see some gains. Heading in to make up filthy finally, I felt like an ass for avoiding it.

Visited Crossfit Defined (CFD) with a buddy, very nice group of athletes and Coach Laura was very welcoming!

WOD A) 100 American KB swings for time @ 55lbs

    Metcon RX: 5:30

WOD B) 3 Rounds for time of:

    5 KB Clean/Lunge per leg @ 55lbs

10 KB Sumo Dead Lift High Pulls @ 55lbs

15 Ab Mats (aka Sit Ups)

    200 Meter Run

    Metcon RX: 7:38

Enjoyed Crossfit Defined, but Crossfit Chicago is home to me!

So I learned two things between yesterday and today. One is that it is near imposible to be an arab at an arabic family dinner and eat paleo. Everything has Yogurt, chick peas, bread and rice! Two is that a Food hangover is MUCH worse than a drinking hangover! Yuck.

So in order to punish myself for last night, I did filthy fifty for the second time this week with Nat and Raz. 29:05 – beat my monday time by 3 and a half minutes! However I have to admit….I scalled the box jumps to 16. Just couldn’t handle the 20 today. But still really happy I did it!

Oh and a shout out to Adam – Great coaching today! Helpful pointers and kept me going when I wanted to lay down and puke!!

I retested by Paleo retest today after the snafu earlier in the week, just for my own knowledge.

Today: 9 hspu (with 1 abmat) and 4 deadhangs
    Pre-challenge: 6 hspu (with 1 abmat) and 3 deadhangs
    Improvement: 3 hspu (50%), 1 deadhang (33%)

Happy with this! I forgot to test to see if I can do even 1 hspu without an abmat, which would be super exciting. I can only imagine what it would have been if I had been able to do all the extra pullup/hspu programming!

For those that are contemplating whether to stay Paleo or not, here is one of my favorite video clips from Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution that helped influence my decision. It’s about 5 minutes long but entertaining, and Jamie is “easy on the eyes”, too:

Had a productive weekend at CrossFit Nasti. Accomplished the following:

    1) Did more burpees than I ever should.
    2) DUd my little heart out. In fact, I broke my rope (Rudy…I’ll need some some of your handyman skills with this one)
    3) Worked on my clean. It sucks. Real bad. Like, more than I thought it did. And that’s a lot.
    4) Met Leah Polaski. She’s a badass. I think she liked me. We had matching shorts (thanks Elisabeth).
    5) Ate more than my share of shoogs and processed crap.

Excited to be back with my fraynds at CFC tomorrow!

Don’t know if everyone knew this but it was a great discovery for me today….Boundary has grass fed, antibiotic free, hormone free, gluten free and free range meat! Turkey, chicken, beef….yummy! Finally a bar where I can eat something and feel pretty good about it!

    just thought I’d share…..

    A1 Press – 3RM 130# (PR by 5#)
This was the first time I’ve managed to turn around a weight after it’s stopped going up, and 130# was my 1RM not too long ago.
    A2 Weighted pullups 5×3@20#
Did these immediately after each press set with a kb on a belt; just playing around with different grips and working on speed.

    5k row – 18:46
Saw Anthony doing these this week and it looked like fun. Thought I’d take an easy pace, but got a little bored and the a$$ started burning, so I wanted to get it over with. I’d planned on going 20-21minutes. PR is 18:27.
