Rudy Tapalla

Rudy is the owner/operator. He is married with three kids, Jackson-6, Kailey-4, Nathan-2. Marine Corps Veteran (Sgt. 98-02). He was a CrossFit Headquarters Seminar trainer for over 5 years (10-16). Has multiple certifications as he has been in the fitness industry for over 14 years. He spends any free time he has dabbling in jiu jitsu and learning, experimenting, and being a student of movement. 

Ben Llames

Ben started off as a member and is now part of the office and coaching staff. BS in Accounting from NEIU and L2 from CrossFit along with Oly, Gymnastics and Nutrition. Free time equals family time with wife and daughter and bowling (170 avg, 630 high series, 288 high game).

Dana Chicoine

Dana started Crossfit in September 2013 and has been at it ever since. She spent 8 years as an elementary music teacher before getting into fitness and nutrition full time. In her free time, Dana likes to get outside as much as possible - particularly her camping and hiking trips to Colorado every summer. She also brews her own beer!

Phil Washlow

Phil Started CrossFit in late 2012 and has never looked back. Certifications and seminars include CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Level 2 (coming soon), CrossFit Mobility and FuBarbell Olympic Weightlifting. He works full time as an analyst across the street at Sipi Metals. His free time includes family time with his fiancé and puppy, devouring podcasts, trying to not suck at golf and mobilizing too much.

Silvia Castillo

Silvia began crossfit in February of 2013 in the women's only class.  She was dragged in reluctantly by a friend using a groupon and fell in love with it.  She is a teacher in the Little Village/Brighton Park neighborhood and has taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. She is a die hard cubs fan and loves the game of baseball.  She has visited 25 of 30 ballparks and tries to visit at least one a year. She also as a goal of visiting all 50 states!

Tim Marando

Tim began his CrossFit journey in 2010 with CrossFit Chicago. After years of main floor programming he worked his way to Olympic lifting for the better part of the last 3 years. As a Chiropractor, Tim has a passion for body mechanics and movement which has helped treat athletes from all backgrounds. Over the years Tim has earned his CrossFit Level 1 and USAW Sports Performance Coach certification. Outside of CrossFit, Tim loves spending his time mountain biking and skiing.

Randy Santiago

Randy has always had a passion for physical activity, sports, and fitness. He takes pride in his versatility and ability to understand the needs of all age groups, from youth through teens, young adults through baby boomers. With over 15 years of experience, one of the most rewarding areas of his work is witnessing first hand how improving fitness transforms lives. Randy understands how to meet people at their level, develop rapport, and work with them to improve overall health and fitness.

Carrie Jean

Carrie Jean started CrossFit in 2011 and began coaching in 2013. She has a background as a competitive cheerleader and powerlifter (lifetime PR’s: Back Squat 365, Deadlift 375 and Bench 185) and was part of the Crossfit Chicago North Central regional team in 2013. She has accumulated several certifications in CrossFit including L1, Defense, Powerlifting, and Kids along with attending several powerlifting and Olympic lifting seminars. She works full-time in community corrections, is a certified firearms and defense tactics instructor and a sweets connoisseur. In her free time she enjoys traveling, watching the Chicago Cubs, indulging in Chicago’s multitude of restaurants and spending time with family and friends. 

Lo Fendrich

Lo tried at her hand at CrossFit in August 2013 when we were running a Women’s Only class. About a year later, she transitioned into our co-ed classes and was hooked. She even met her now fiancé working out here! After experiencing the life changing effects of CrossFit’s approach to fitness, Lo was motivated to help others do the same. Earlier this year, Lo completed her CrossFit Level 1 Certificate. By day, Lo works at one of the world’s top ranked technology incubators where she consults with startups on talent acquisition and recruiting best practices and strategies. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family (who all live in the city), trying new restaurants around the city, and meandering the Logan Square Farmers Market on Sundays!

Meg Grunewald

Meg has been a member at Crossfit Chicago since March 2012, and starting coaching June 2017 after completing her Crossfit Level 1 Certificate. Besides Crossfit, Meg also enjoys yoga, competing in triathlons and trying anything active. When she's not at CFC, she's making people laugh at the CSz Theater playing ComedySportz (interactive competitive improv), or working with babies and kids on photo shoots and commercials.
